Our client, a high-growth operator in the iGaming space, is seeking an experienced Legal & Compliance Manager to ensure the business operates within the framework of Ontario’s gaming regulations. The successful candidate will act as a key point of contact across departments, helping to maintain regulatory alignment, implement risk controls, and support ongoing business growth in a compliant and ethical manner.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the business operates in full compliance with relevant laws and licensing requirements in Ontario.
  • Act as an internal advisor, supporting departments such as Marketing, Product, Tech, and Finance with legal and regulatory queries.
  • Develop and maintain compliance policies, manuals, and procedures in line with current regulations.
  • Oversee communications with regulatory bodies and respond to any legal inquiries or audits.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and advise the business on legal implications or required changes.
  • Conduct internal compliance audits and risk assessments; propose mitigation strategies.
  • Manage AML/MLRO responsibilities and liaise with relevant government authorities as needed.
  • Train staff on compliance and regulatory changes, ensuring business-wide awareness.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure cohesive and effective compliance implementation.
  • Support internal investigations and enforce company compliance standards.
  • Represent the business in relevant trade associations or industry groups.
Requirements
Essential:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law; further qualifications in compliance are a plus.
  • Minimum 7 years of legal or compliance experience, ideally within gaming or a related regulated industry.
  • Familiarity with iGaming and sports betting legislation in Ontario.
  • Proven track record drafting policies and managing regulatory frameworks.
  • Experienced in leading or contributing to compliance audits and investigations.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced, and tech-led environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong English language skills (written and spoken)
Preferred:
  • Experience within crypto or blockchain-related sectors.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian-wide regulatory nuances.
